David Michael Waller

David Michael “Mike” Waller was born on October 27, 1947. He was one of the most amazing men to ever live — a husband, father, grandfather, friend, and practical joker who lived, loved, and laughed hard.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Nova “Dee” and Sam Waller; by his in-laws, Bill and Barbara Robertson; and by his sister-in-law, Brenda Weeks and brother-in-law, Mack Garrett.

He leaves behind the love of his life, his wife Beverly Waller, and the six children “in whom he was well pleased” and who he loved so deeply — each one showing him a new side of love:

· His daughter Jodie, who taught him the true meaning of love; her husband Devin Martin, and their children Alex and Ava.

· His daughter Amy, who showed him that his heart could grow and love another child just as deeply as the first; her husband Lewis Reeves, and their daughter Annabel.

· His daughter Rachel, his beloved “kitten,” and her sons Phoenix and Fox.

· His only son Jesse, his pride and joy; his wife Marta, and their daughters Macy and Presli.

· His daughter Jenna, who reminded him so much of his Beverly and who he often said was “wise beyond her years”; her husband Lance Smith, and their sons Price, Brody, and Huck.

· His daughter Jamison, his favorite little “twit” who kept him laughing; her husband Keith Lewis, and their children Owen and Etta.

Mike is also survived by his “Sis” Judy, his brother Sammy and wife Cindy, his brother-in-law Kyle Robertson, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, lifelong friends, hunting and fishing buddies, and fellow tennis fanatics.

Mike grew up in Sarepta, Louisiana, where he and his brother Sammy were known to cause a bit of mischief — often armed with nothing more than BB guns and big imaginations. He was an avid outdoorsman who felt most at home in the wild. Whether hunting, fishing at "The Pitts", snow skiing in Crested Butte, scuba diving in Cozumel, or playing tennis on any court, he lived life with intensity and joy.

Known to a few of his closest friends as "The Kid", Mike was a legendary practical joker who believed a good laugh could fix almost anything. His sense of humor was unmatched — and his pranks, stories, and smile are the stuff of family legend.

To his grandchildren, he was lovingly known as "Grandaddy Waller" — a title he wore with pride and playfulness. He had the rare gift of making everyone around him feel like they were his absolute favorite person. Whether you’d just met him or had known him your whole life, Mike had a way of making people feel truly seen and loved.

He taught us to laugh loudly, love deeply, and never take life too seriously.

He will be missed beyond measure — but his stories, his laughter, and his love will live on in the lives of everyone he touched. Even until the very end, Mike never lost his faith in Jesus. He faced life — and death — with courage, peace, and the quiet confidence that comes from knowing where he was going. His family takes comfort in knowing that while his earthly journey has ended, his eternal one has just begun.
