Funeral services celebrating the life of David F. Evans, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 18, 2020 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel, 2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport, Louisiana with Pastor Buddy Puryear, Brother Mike Hawkins and Brother Lee Simms officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Frierson, Louisiana. Visitation with family will be Thursday, December 17, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Southside. Please practice safe distancing and wear masks. Casual dress.
David was born on October 27, 1933 in Hanna, Louisiana to E.T. and Florene Johnson Evans and went to be with his Lord on December 14, 2020. He moved to Frierson in 1948. He graduated from Stonewall High School in 1952. David married his childhood sweetheart, Billie Jean Johniken on December 24, 1954. David served two years in the United States Army; worked for United Gas, Pennzoil and Atlas before retiring in 1991. It was in 1991 he joined the Desoto Gideon Camp and became an active member. David was a charter member and active deacon of Kingston Baptist Church in Frierson, Louisiana. He loved playing with his precious great grands on the farm and spreading God's love to everyone he met.
David was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Betty Frey and brother, LC Evans. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 66 years, Billie Jean Evans; sister, Earnestine Evans Prudhome; daughters, Carolyn Rister and husband, Roger, Donna Reno and husband, Mike; son, Ray Evans; grandchildren Jamie Rister and wife, Joy, Michael Rister and wife, Gracie, Amy Cormier and husband, Mitchel, Haylie Evans and fiance', Austin Crooks, Tommy Evans, Madison Evans, Caisee Rogers and husband, Michael, Chris Hall and wife, Kelsey and Kaycee Hall; 11 great-grands and one more April 2021.
Honoring David as pallbearers are his grandsons, Michael and Jamie Rister, Tommy Evans, Chris Hall, Mitchel Cormier, longtime friend, Ed Parault and Stacy Hall. Serving as honorary pallbearers are the members of DeSoto Gideon Camp.
