David "Dave" Wayne Drake

David “Dave” Wayne Drake, 63, of Bossier City, Louisiana, passed away suddenly on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at his home. A graveside service will be at Forest Park West Cemetery in Shreveport, Louisiana on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with Andrew Brewster officiating.

Dave was born in Shreveport, Louisiana to Jack W. Drake and Marilyn P. Drake on August 31, 1960. He went to high school at Parkway High School and graduated in 1978. He joined the United States Navy and was stationed in Hawaii and served as a SeaBee. Out of the Navy, Dave had many jobs, but he was a “picker” at heart. He came by that, honestly. He loved to junk and sell scrap metal, recycle, and reuse things. There was always a use for the treasures he found. As a child, he was the best playmate a cousin could have. Dave lived with and helped take care of his mother for the past few years. He was well liked by the neighbors, which he was always looking out for and helping. Most people describe Dave as quirky and kind. He was big and loud and sometimes peculiar but would do anything for anybody. His favorite pastimes were motorcycles, cars, and watching football, both college, the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, and NFL. His favorite team was the Saints, and any team that beat the Cowboys. He was a writer and loved his music. All kinds of music. He was even a disc jockey for a time. He loved Star Trek and Star Wars and sci-fi in general. He loved his family and friends, especially his niece and nephews, and he loved Jesus.

David is preceded in death by his father, Jack Wayne Drake of Austin, MN; his brother, Dennis Lloyd Drake; paternal grandparents, Bernice and Lloyd Drake of Austin, MN., and maternal grandparents, L.C. and Kathlyn Proctor of Blanchard, LA. He is survived by his loving mother, Marilyn Proctor Drake of Bossier City, LA; sister, Denise Drake Jensen and husband, Ed of Shreveport, LA; nephew Matt “Bubba” Jensen; his niece, Grace “Sister” Jensen; youngest nephew, Teddy “Theodaurus Rex” Jensen and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.
