Darrell Edward Smith, Sr. was born July 15, 1973, in Shreveport, Louisiana and passed from this world Thursday, October 28, 2021.
Darrell attended Haughton High School where he dated and later married Nancy Platt with whom he had three children, one of which is deceased. They divorced after five years of marriage. Darrell also fathered another son, Darrell, Jr. Darrell later met and married Jeanette Smith. No children were born of this marriage, but he did become stepfather to Jeanette's five children and were married for 17 years.
Darrell had many trades but enjoyed woodwork most of all. Making doll houses for his daughter and cabinets for his mom are just a few of the projects he enjoyed creating. He was also a home tattoo artist. He enjoyed classic rock-n-roll and country music, traveling, spending time outdoors, and had a love for animals. Darrell will be missed by many.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Smith, Stone, and Haynie; father, Steven Smith; stepfather, Mike Haynie; son, Nicholas Smith; sister, Rebecca Robertson Vines; in-laws; Judy Holliman, Michael Toney, Sr. and Roy Platt, Sr.; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Sharon Haynie; wife, Jeanette Smith; children, Michelle House and husband, David of Texas, Darrell Smith, Jr. of Louisiana, Brian Platt and wife, Olivia of Texas; stepchildren, Matthew Cross Ballood and wife, Samantha of Louisiana, Destiny Vines of Louisiana; William Vines, Morgan Head and Taylor LeAnn Vines all of Oklahoma; brother, Adam Smith and wife, Tiffany of Oregon; grandchildren, Elijah and Gabriel House and Isaiah Smith; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and extended family.
A memorial service honoring Darrell's life will be held at a later date.
