Darnell Harris

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Darnell Harris, Sr., 70, will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Dr., Bossier City, Louisiana. A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. A Burial will be held at a later date at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Pastor Marshell Cooper.

Darnell Harris, Sr. was born in Bourbon, Mississippi on October 25, 1953, to the late Willie L. Harris, Sr. and Gertrude C. Harris. He confessed hope in Christ at an early age. Darnell departed this life on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at his home surrounded by family in Bossier City, Louisiana.

Darnell graduated from Breisch High School in Leland, Mississippi in 1972. He served in the United States Army from 1972 to 1992. Darnell received an honorable discharge with the rank of SFC. Afterward, he was employed at the United States Post Office in Ruleville, Mississippi for 10 years. Later he was employed with the VA Hospital until his retirement in 2014.

Darnell was united in holy matrimony to Earlean Ford in 1974. From this union, six children were born: Donakia, Yashika, Darnell, Jr., Michael, Diana, and Cornelius.

Darnell was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Gertrude Harris; two brothers, Clifton and Ivory Harris and two sisters, Jeanette and Sherry Harris. He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife, Earlean Harris; six children, Donakia Harris, Yashika Woulard and husband Roberto, Darnell Harris, Jr., Michael Harris, Diana Dotson and husband, Johnathon, and Cornelius Harris; 27 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; six brothers, Willie Harris and wife, Crissie, Cleveland Harris and wife, Dorothy, James Harris and wife, Helen, Sylvester Harris and wife, Sarah, Terry Harris, and wife, Sandra, and Cully Harris and wife, Shirley; four sisters, Frankie Paul, Florine Owens, Gertrude Lee, and husband, Larry, and Mary Harris; two sisters-in-law, Maxine Harris and Charlotte Milan and husband, Robert; four brothers-in-law, J.W. Ford, Tommy Ford, Truman Ford and Nathaniel Ford and wife, Beverly and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Honoring Darnell as pallbearers will be friends and family. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Donakia Harris, Michael Harris, Darnell Harris, Jr., Cornelius Harris, Roberto Woulard, and Johnathon Dotson.
