HOMER, LA: Services celebrating the life of Daphne Pixley Spigener were held Friday, February 7, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Chapel, Homer, Louisiana. Officiating were Pastors Perry Anderson and Joe Asbell. Visitation was from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 6, 2020 at Rose-Neath in Homer.Serving as pallbearers were Tommy Whitman, Greg Spigener, Brad Spigener, Ryan Spigener, Kelly Donnelly and Derek Turner. Honorary pallbearers were John Greene and Jeff Greene.Daphne passed away February 3, 2020 after a courageous but brief battle with pancreatic cancer. She was Valedictorian of the Homer High School Class of 1956 and a lifelong resident of Homer, LA. She was a devoted wife and loving mother and Mimi. Those who knew her know she loved sports and loved watching the LSU Tigers play football. She was a wonderful cook and spoiled her family with her delicious Southern home cooking. Her family was her world and granddaughters her pride and joy. She loved selflessly and will be missed so very much.Daphne leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband of 62 years W.A. Spigener of Homer, daughter Shannon Spigener Self and husband Chuck of Minden, granddaughters Emily and Haley Self of Minden, brother Kenneth Pixley and wife Saundra of Homer, step-grandchildren Hannah, Katie and Hunter Self of Shreveport, brothers and sisters-in-law Gordon and Patricia Spigener of Shreveport, Freddie and Diane Spigener of Athens, Jimmy and Donis Spigener of Mt. Pleasant, TX, Ralph and Debbie Spigener of Homer and numerous other family and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents Ernest \'\'Rip\'\' and Ruth Pixley, sister Caroline \'\'Ernie\'\' Greene, brother Thomas \'\'Buddy\'\' Pixley and infant sister Karen Pixley.The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the nurses in the ICU at Minden Medical Center. The kindness and compassion shown to both Daphne and W.A. during the past month has been incredible and is so very appreciated by the family.
