Danny was born on May 4, 1937, to Odell and Vesta Jurls in Taylor, Arkansas, and passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Danny earned his master’s degree in education from Louisiana Tech University and went on to serve the Bossier Parish School System for over 30 years. As an educator, he touched countless lives with his patience, integrity, and unwavering dedication to his students and colleagues.
He shared a loving marriage with Betty Jurls, and together they built a life rooted in care, laughter, and deep companionship.
A man of the outdoors, Danny found joy in fishing, hunting, and tending to his garden. But his heart belonged most fully to his beloved wire-haired terriers. His passion for dog shows was more than a hobby; it was a bond of pride and love. One of his proudest moments was watching his female terrier take home top honors at Westminster.
Danny will be remembered not only for his quiet achievements and steadfast spirit but for the joy he found in simple pleasures, loyal companionship, and a life lived with purpose.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Odell and Vesta Jurls, and sister, Barbara Jurls Long. He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Jean Jurls; sons, Brian R. Jurls, Steven K. Jurls, and Kenneth R. Jurls; grandson, Troy Jurls; granddaughter, Stephanie Bass; great-granddaughters, Harlieh Bass, and Scarlett Bass.
Honoring Danny as pallbearers will be Steven Jurls, Brian Jurls, Terry Williams, Matt Davis, Troy Jurls, Mike Long, and Steven Long. Serving as an honorary pallbearer will be Kenneth Jurls.
