Danny Lynn Dillon was born September 24, 1944 in Minden, LA. He passed away from Lymphoma cancer at his home surrounded by his loving family on February 1, 2024 in Homer, LA.
Danny served in the Army Reserves for six years. He attended Graham School for Cattlemen in Garnett, KS. Danny was employed for many years by Louisiana Army Ammunition Plant and later retired from Weyerhaeuser in Ada Taylor, LA. He held various jobs while working full time such as hauling pulp wood, working at Homer Livestock and Clark’s Livestock. Danny had a passion for horses and cattle, and he was one of the first people to breed and raise paint horses in the area. He was a hardworking, Christian man who loved his family and friends.
Funeral Services were held for Danny at Rose Neath Funeral Home, 405 East 5th Street, Homer, LA, Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Perry Anderson, officiated. Visitation was on Monday at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. Burial was at Old Athens Cemetery, Athens, LA.
He is preceded in death by his parents, W. F. Dillon, Jr., and Bethel Louise Crow Dillon; and his first wife and mother of his children, Dorothy Jane Dance Dillon.
He is survived by his loving wife, Hazel Hollenshead Dillon: his children, Jana Pease (Mark), Dana Smith (Ashley), Cody Dillon, Dana Giovengo (Tony), Ginni Taylor; grandchildren, Ariel Smith Lewis (Quentin), Avery Smith, Justin Pease, Lane Dillon, Rita Jane Dillon, Caitlyn Hendrix (Gip), Brantlie Boone (Landon), Chloe Giovengo, Shelby Taylor, Logan Taylor; great-grandchildren, Easton Lewis, Kallie Lewis, and Jaci Hendrix; sisters, Susan Bramlett and Sharon Johnson; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Honorary pallbearers were Bubba Hays, Al Faulk, Keith Owens, Buzzy Buckner and Paul Cook
Pallbearers were Lane Dillon, Justin Pease, Avery Smith, Quentin Lewis, Tony Giovengo, and Royce Weaver
The family says a special thank you to Dr. Kirtan Koticha and staff at Highland Clinic Oncology and St. Joseph’s Hospice.
