Danny Kent was born to Tom and Bessie Kent, June 1, 1936 in Blanchard, Louisiana, where he was a lifelong resident, and passed away, Friday, August 19, 2022 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Danny was one of 15 children with all having preceded him in death.

Danny and Brenda Kent were married on March 4, 1970. Danny worked for the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Department for 25 years. After he retired, he stayed very busy with a lawn mowing business, refurbishing, and selling old cars, travelling to festivals with a train he built out of 55-gallon barrels and giving children rides. Even after retirement, he would be up and working outside in his barn. He loved to garden too! His grandchildren have many fond memories of times with the grandparents. He had many “toys” for them to keep busy with like 4-wheelers, fishing, paddleboats , go-carts, etc. Neighbors would drop by the barn needing help or advice on a repair or just to visit. At Christmas time, he and his brothers would decorate the whole street of Shepherd Road with lights, and it was like a Christmas fairy land. He and Brenda also really enjoyed car racing, dirt track and NASCAR. They travelled to many, many places with friends and family for many years.

Danny was a big, big man with a big heart and will be missed by many friends and family alike. Everyone will miss the way he could “make us laugh until we cried.” They all cannot wait to see him again one day where he will have stories to tell them about his adventures in heaven while he has been waiting on them to arrive.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 52 years, Brenda Kent; his children, Rhonda Winkler and husband, Bill, Cindy Shackleford and husband, Chris, Terry Lyons and husband, Monte, Michael Fielder and wife, Sue; grandchildren, Ashley Price, William Winkler, IV, Jessica Hall and husband, Justin, Scott Sumrall and wife, Teressa, Megan Peak and husband, Jamie, John Sumrall and wife, Leah, Abigail Aldrich and husband, Joey, Jesse Lyons and partner, Emelie, Vanessa Blanton and husband, Blake, Lee Lyons and partner, Diany, Lucas Lyons and wife, Emily, Savannah Fielder and partner, Aaron, and Corey Fielder and wife, Eden; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Honoring Danny as pallbearers will be Brian Frazier, Brett Frazier, Gene Kent, Tommy Kent, Scott Sumrall, John Sumrall, Jamie Peak, Corey Fielder, and Jesse Lyons.
