SHREVEPORT, LA - Dan Gilbert Foster was born August 2, 1925 in Magazine, AR and passed away on December 6, 2017 in Shreveport, LA. He lived most of his life in Paris, AR. He barbered at Fort Hood and later moved to Shreveport to barber at Barksdale where he established his own business, Dan Fosters Family Hairstyling. He was an icon in his business for 60 years where he established countless and lasting friendships. Dan was a follower of the Centenary Gents and an avid Arkansas Razorback fan. He was a member of the Church of Christ North. His last message to all was how much love he felt for his family, friends and all who touched his life. His strength, his love, his selflessness, and his faith in God will always be his living legacy to all he was and is...for love never dies.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Edith and Guy "Bud" Foster, two brothers, Guy Foster and Lyndell Foster. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 66 years, Stella Foster; son, Dan E. Foster; daughter, Kathy Sanders and husband Richie; sister, Joyce Wright; two grandchildren, Stacy Davis and Ryan Stroope, who lovingly called him "Poppa"; seven great-grandchildren, Lane and Colton Stroope, Shaye, Sophie and Tyler Davis, Lleyton and Lily Sanders, who knew him as "Big Poppa".
Funeral services for Dan Foster will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 11, 2017 at Rose-Neath Marshall St. Chapel. Officiating will be Gary Knighton of Church of Christ North. Burial will follow in Blanchard Cemetery, Blanchard, LA. Visitation with the family will be held on Sunday, December 10, 2017 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home.
Honoring Dan as pallbearers will be Trey Davis, Steve Deville, Justin Sanders, Matt Sanders, Ryan Stroope and Sam Stroope.
