HOMER, LA: A graveside service were held for Mr. Dale Douglas Gryder, 81, at Arlington Cemetery of Homer, LA on Saturday, February 22, 2020, at 3:00 p.m. with Bro. Ray Anderson officiating. The family received friends at Rose-Neath Funeral Home of Homer on Saturday from 1-3 p.m. Mr. Gryder was born in Shreveport, LA, to Robie E. and Grace May Gryder. He entered into rest on Thursday, February 20, 2020, in Homer, LA. Mr. Gryder served his country in the US Army Reserves. He and his wife, Sally, were the owner and operators of Gryder Mobile Homes in Minden for 26 ½ years. He was the former president of the school board of Claiborne Academy. Mr. Gryder worked with the Gilgal Water Board of Minden, LA. Being very involved in his community, he was currently part of the Fire District #5 board. Mr. Gryder loved gardening and was an avid fisherman. He was a member of the Homer Church of Christ. Mr. Gryder was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Joe Gryder; and sister Mary Sue Jordan. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 ½ years, Sally O'Rear Gryder; son, Dale D. Gryder, II, and wife Laura of Minden, LA; daughter, Sarah Gryder of Springhill, LA; sister, Sandra Bishop; two grandsons, Caleb Lawrence Gryder and Joshua Douglas Gryder; a brother-in-law, Francis Victor Jordan; sister-in-law, Robbie Ponseigo and husband Joe; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relative and friends. In lieu of flowers honoring Mr. Gryder, his family suggest memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or donor's choice.
