A memorial service for Daisy Kime, 98, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 21, 2022 at St. Mark’s Cathedral, 908 Rutherford St., Shreveport, LA, with The Reverend Dr. Rowena White officiating. Interment will precede the service at 9:00 a.m. in the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, LA, with Larry Alton officiating. The family will be receiving visitors from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 20, 2022 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall St., Shreveport, LA.
Daisy was born in Shreveport, LA on November 22, 1923 to William H. Griffin and Bertie E. Griffin. Daisy died peacefully in her sleep on the morning of Saturday, October 15, 2022. Daisy was a graduate of Fair Park High School in 1941. She proudly served in the United States Marines during World War II. After the war, she returned to Shreveport and went to Centenary College of Louisiana and began her work career in Federal Civil Service. Upon her retirement, she returned to Louisiana State University and earned a Master of Social Work Degree in 1982. After earning this degree, she became a professional social worker and earned many accolades and awards for her efforts and achievements. Daisy's favorite past time was shopping, and she was quite good at it! She also enjoyed cooking, playing Bridge, and reading.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William Griffin and Bertie Griffin; her brother, Haywood Griffin; her sister, Marilyn Normand; and her granddaughter, Kelly Ann Kime.
Daisy is survived by her loving children, Patricia McAllister and Michael Kime and wife, Dianne; her grandchildren, Paula Matter and husband, Tom, Michael Kime Jr. and wife, Susan, Anneke Stagg, David Stagg and wife, Andie, and Brad Frantom and wife, Amanda; and her great-grandchildren, Coco Knight, Hanna Kime, Nick Kime, Elliot Stagg, and Griffin Stagg. Daisy also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, and her lifelong friend, Modelle Hargrove.
Daisy will be sorely missed but we know this: "But as God calls us one by one the chain will link again."
