Curtis Ray McLeod
The family, of Curtis R. McLeod, wish to share the obituary message below, authored by
Curtis himself.
"Curtis Ray McLeod died November 9, 2016, at the age of 90. One of ten
children of John B. and Winnie Walker McLeod, who, had five girls and five boys. He was the oldest of the five boys. Curtis was the valedictorian of his senior class at McLeod High School, graduating in 1942.
In 1943 he enrolled at Tyler Commercial College studying a general business course and graduated in 1943 with a diploma.
In 1944 Curtis McLeod enrolled at Texas A&M University, studying Wildlife Management and Fisheries Biology. He was awarded a BS degree in Jan. 1950. After graduating from A&M, Curtis worked as a petroleum landman, working many years for various Oil & Gas Corporations in the ArkLaTex.
His greatest love was for his beautiful wife, Joy, of 64 years, who survives him, as well as, for his daughters Kathy McLeod and Robin (McLeod) Thimons Ingram.
He was a veteran of WWII, having served as a paratrooper in the Army Airborne, his other greatest love.
He was an avid gardener and fisherman, enjoying time with his grandson, Geoffrey Thimons, grand-daughter, Shelby Thimons and great-granddaughter, Grace Thimons.
Curtis R. McLeod had an abiding love for his Alma Mater, Texas A&M and the Aggie football team.
He will be buried in the Huffines Cemetery, Cass County, Texas with Rev. C.E. Morris presiding at his service," at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, November 14, 2016. Visitation will be held Sunday, November 13, 2016 from 4-6:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel.
