Corliss Claire Austin

HOMER, LA: Corliss Claire Austin, age 73, was born August 24, 1948, in Minden, Louisiana to Charles Claude "Hamburger" Austin and Helen Davis Austin. She entered into rest on September 8, 2021, after a brief illness that has left a hole in the heart of her family. Corliss retired in 2008 from Minden Medical Center as a Registered Nurse in their Emergency Room. She was a loving Mom, Granny, and Sister. Her loving nature didn't just stop with family & friends, it was also showcased at her home that flourished with many beautiful plants & flowers. Other hobbies included hunting & painting rocks which she enjoyed hiding for others to find. She had a passion for sewing & spent the last year making masks for family & friends to keep everyone safe. She loved her dogs Doobie, Sasce' and Stella very much along with all of her grand puppies. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles Claude Austin, and Helen Davis Austin; three brothers, Ben Moore Jr, Charlie Austin, and Don Austin, nephew Joshua Austin, and niece Jessica Austin. Corliss is survived by her sister, Pam Austin; her daughter, Tracey Ratcliff, and husband, Chris, grandson Bryan Ratcliff, and wife Chelsie and granddaughter Lauren Ratcliff; her son, James Lawrence Jr., and his three children, Charles, Sandi, and Ashley Lawrence. Her nieces are Lori Hamilton, Stacy Rogers, Racheal Knudson, and Justina Vaughn, and one nephew Charles Austin. She also leaves behind great-grandchildren along with several great-nieces and nephews and her best friend, Cathy Morris, and her husband Dewey. A celebration of life will be held in the future for close family and friends. In lieu of flowers honoring Corliss, her family has requested donations be made to the dog rescue, Legacy Humane Society in remembrance of her and her love of dogs.
