Connie Sue Washburn Posey, age 78, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026. She was born on November 13, 1947, in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Connie was a woman full of life, known for her warm heart, strong spirit, and unwavering honesty. She never met a stranger and had a gift for making everyone feel welcome. Whether offering a kind word or sharing her unfiltered thoughts, Connie lived life authentically and fully. Her favorite saying, 'LET’S PARTY,' perfectly captured her joyful and spirited approach to life.
For 42 years, Connie proudly owned and operated Connie’s Hide-Away, where she built lasting friendships and became a beloved presence in the community. She was truly a loving and caring person who valued family, friendship, and connection above all else.
She had many passions and hobbies that brought her happiness, including fishing, Girlfriends lunch dates, bowling as a member of the WIBC, playing darts with SBDA/BDA, and competing in pool through the APA. She also loved working puzzles, camping, gardening, and spending time outdoors tending to her yard. Connie enjoyed relaxing with a White Russian, taking road trips with her dear friends Jean and Rose, and trying her luck on the slot machines at the casino.
Connie is survived by her loving children: Mike Washburn and wife, Pam, Ricky Washburn and wife, Denice, Tina Washburn, and Mary Dixon. She was a proud grandmother to 10 grandchildren and a cherished great-grandmother to 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vertie Drewey and Arthur White; her son, Kenneth Wayne Washburn; her sisters, Rose Dinkins, Louise Gour, and Shirley Ann; her brother, Marvin White; her son-in-law, Jerry Dixon; her granddaughter, Cristal Cowan; and her dear friends, Rose and Mattie .
Pallbearers will be Justin Washburn, Kyle Washburn, Dillon Austin, Tanner Austin, Damien Austin and Leo Cowan.
A service to celebrate Connie’s life (VISITATION) will be held at Rose-Neath South, 2500 Southside Dr. in Shreveport, on Friday, June 19, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Services will be held Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 12:30 p.m. at Rose-Neath South followed by a burial service at Forest Park West Cemetery. Officiating will be by Pastor Joey Ketchum.
Connie’s life was defined by love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, kindness, and joy that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
