Connie Taylor Avant

Funeral services for Connie Taylor Avant, 78, will be held on Friday, October 14, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Forest Park West cemetery in Shreveport. A visitation will be held Thursday, October 13, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Officiating the service will be Pastor Mike Hawkins.

Connie was born on December 16, 1943 to Bentley and Violet Taylor in Lake Providence, Louisiana and passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2022 in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Connie was a resident of Shreveport. She was a retired Real Estate Broker. She graduated from Byrd High School. She was married to the late James Murry Avant. Her hobbies included doing crafts, sewing, monogramming and cooking. Her passion was her beautiful grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Kenneth Taylor and Roy Taylor; sisters, Linda Gouthiere, Betty Floyd and Donna Reynolds. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, James Avant and wife, Donna, Jeff Avant and partner, Theresa Gullo; grandchildren, Brandon (Lindsey), Sydnee, Nic, and Nicole; sisters, Shelby Ellzey, Carol Huddleston and Delvie Parker; and numerous nieces, nephews,  relatives and friends.

Honoring Connie as pallbearers will be Brandon Avant, Nic Avant, Ricky Ellzey, Chris Brown, Chuck Gouthiere and Jonathan Guth.

The family would like to express special thanks to Earnestine Williams, Carol Huddleston and Shelby Ellzey for the wonderful care, love and compassion given to Connie during her illness.

The family suggests memorials may be made to the charity of their choice.
