Funeral services for Clyde Spencer Wells, 87, will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Logansport, Louisiana. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Officiating the service will be Pastor Lee McClintock. Clyde was born on January 18, 1934 in Longstreet, Louisiana to William Percy Wells and Ruby Whitten Wells and passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2021 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Clyde was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and was thrilled when he became a great-grandfather. Clyde enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as a seaman on board the USS Bremerton (CA130) during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1954. He received the Korean Service Medal; National Defense Service Medal, China Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and Korean Presidential Unit Citation. He completed his Sheet Metal Apprenticeship in 1960 and worked as a sheet metal worker until his retirement from Bamburg Heating and Air Conditioning in 1996. Clyde loved his LSU Tigers, football and baseball. He looked forward to his weekly phone call from his brother to discuss the LSU games. He loved coaching the young kids that played baseball and football for the Brookwood Athletic Club from 1969-1973. They won several city championships for the Southern Hills team. Clyde is preceded in death by his parents; sister Ernestine Davis; daughter, Elizabeth Ann Wells; son, Richard "Rickey" Carl Wells; and his wife of 61 years, Jean Alice Wells. Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Stephen Wells and wife, Karen; daughter, Debra Robinson and husband, David; daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Wells; his loving brother, Bill "Bub-Boy" Wells and wife, Barbara; grandchildren, Brent Stewart and wife, Jessica, Kimberly Meek and husband, Marcus, Chelsey Wells Swanner and husband, Tommy, and Paige Wells Joseph; great-grandsons, Chris Laguna and fiancé, Callie and Grey Alexander Joseph; along with extended family and friends. Honoring Clyde as pallbearers will be Brent Stewart, David Robinson, Marcus Meek, Chris Laguna, Tommy Swanner and David Davis. The family would like to thank Dr. Eric Smith and Dr. Scott Howard for taking such good care of Clyde as well as the wonderful staff at Willis-Knighton Pierremont.
