SHREVEPORT, LA - It is with great sadness that the family of Clyde Webb Benson announces his passing at age 93, on January 3, 2019. He passed away peacefully. Clyde was born on April 20, 1925, in Monroe, Louisiana. Clyde married Jane Marie Renaud on October 14, 1950 and worked as a landman in the oil business until his retirement in 1987. His true passion was his love of God, family, country, and most of all love for his wife, Jane, of 68 years.
Clyde was an amazing, courageous man who served as a navigator in the Army Air Corp during World War II in the South Pacific. He flew a total of 99 missions in WWII and the Korean War. He was a true patriot and beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
He will be greatly missed by his surviving wife, Jane; daughters Elizabeth McKinnon, Camille Herrington (Walt), Sheryl Siwek (Marty), and Paula Draper (Dan); his grandchildren Jean McKinnon, Rebecca Thompson, Paula Ishee, Benson Siwek, Martin E. Siwek, and Daniel Draper; along with four great-grandchildren.
A visitation for Clyde will be held on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Shreveport, LA from 4-6 p.m. The funeral mass will be held on Monday, January 7, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at the same church. A private family interment will be held following the mass in Monroe, Louisiana.
