Cleveland was number 5 out of 9 children. He and his siblings were always involved in mischievous activities. One quote from him as a child was “please save me a biscuit “. With 9 kids running around it was never a dull moment. After graduating from Converse High School, he attended the Sabine Valley Campus in Many, Louisiana to learn to weld.
The day he met the love of his life he had been out riding his motorcycle. He drove up to his parents’ home in a black unbuttoned shirt, white jeans and red boots and found Lynelle sitting on his parents’ porch. He began to wink at her and asked her to go for a ride; well, this began their love story. They were wed in 1972 and together they had 4 beautiful children. They celebrated 53 years together February 26, 2025.
Before joining the local they travelled to North Carolina, and he worked there for Brown and Root for a short period. Once they moved back home, he began his career with Local Union 141 out of Shreveport, Louisiana and was able to retire at the very young age of 65 in 2016, with many friends and memories made along the way.
He was a member of San Patricio Baptist Church where he proudly served as a Deacon. He loved serving his Lord and being with his church family. Always wanting children to learn about God, he would drive the Church van around to give them opportunity to be there. He also served his community by being an active member of North Sabine Crossroads Fire Station.
He loved riding horses and was able to ride with the OSTR (Old Spanish Trail Ride) from Logansport to Houston they would leave on a Saturday and ride 216 miles to arrive in downtown Houston the following Saturday to ride through the Houston Rodeo Parade. Rain, sleet or snow didn’t stop them. He was able to do these 4 or 5 different years. He also loved to hunt and fish.
Cleveland was a loving brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He will dearly be missed.
Honoring Cleveland as pallbearers will be Nelson Springer, Caleb Springer, Wesley Sepulvado, Shannon Springer, Conner Brown, and Jason Gaskin.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are Jonathan Springer, and Jason Ebarb.
