Rick was born on February 21st, 1955, in Shreveport, Louisiana, and passed away on October 5, 2026, after a battle with cardiac and respiratory issues. He lived a life marked by service, hard work, and adventure.
A 1973 graduate of Parkway High School, he went on to enlist in the United States Air Force, where he served his country for 20 years as a defense radar operator. During his military career, he was stationed in Iceland, Alaska, and Germany. After two decades of dedicated service, he retired from the Air Force at the age of 38.
Following his military retirement, Rick spent time in Washington State before settling in Pennsylvania. His knowledge and experience in the marine field reflected his practical skills and appreciation for the water.
Rick's life also brought him a special love story. He met his wife, Susan, in New York, and the two later moved back to Louisiana. Before long, they were married in a small, intimate ceremony in Arkansas, beginning their life together as husband and wife.
An adventurous spirit, Rick enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys and WWE Professional Wrestling. He was a certified scuba diver who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed visiting casinos and spent some time training canines to adapt to electronic boundary fencing. He furthered his career path in Shreveport at the Water and Sewer Department and GM Assembly Plant. Whether pursuing his interests or spending time with those close to him, Rick lived a life filled with varied experiences and lasting memories.
Rick was preceded in death by his first wife, Karen M. Driskell; his parents, Clell and Beatrice; his brother, Jerry; and his brothers-in-law, Gilbert, Bruce, and Jerome Brassard, Charles Edberg, Jerry Mitchell, and Dean Schaeffer.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Susan; his son, Colin Driskell; his stepdaughter, Angela Kennelly; four grandsons; his sisters, Glenda Edberg, Janice Dalton, and husband, John; in-laws, Jean & Donna Brassard, Dale & Mary Brassard, Ann Mitchell, Carol Schaeffer, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Richard will be remembered for his years of service to his country, his dedication to his work, his adventurous nature, and the memories he shared with family and friends. His life touched those who knew him, and he will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
May he rest in peace, forever remembered in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
