C.L. (Chuck) Day

Funeral services for C.L. (Chuck) Day, 87, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel in Shreveport, LA. Officiating will be Dr. B.J. "Rocky" Maddox assisted by Rev. Harold Coburn. Visitation with the family will be held an hour prior to the service in the chapel. Interment will follow services at 1:00 p.m. at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, LA with military honors. Chuck was born on March 24, 1931 to Thelma Chapel and Nathaniel Frank Day in Monroe, LA. He passed away peacefully on July 13, 2018. He served as a Corporal in the 999th A Battalion in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was employed with United Gas Pipeline Company for 37 years and retired as Latex Compressor Station Superintendent at Panola, TX. He was ordained as Deacon at Bethany Baptist Church in Bethany, LA and served there as well as at New Hebron Baptist Church in Elysian Fields, TX. He was a member of the 12th District Honor Guard and a lifetime member of VFW Post 2238. Chuck was preceded in death by his father, Frank Day, Sr. and mother, Thelma Day; 2 brothers, Frank Day, Jr. and Maurice Day; 2 sisters, Katherine Huber and Marjorie Huber; son-in-law, Royce G. Walker and granddaughter, Katherine Caraway. Left to cherish his memories are his beloved wife of 60 years, Elizabeth Day; daughter, Lisa Walker Ogden and husband Jerry; daughter, Sharon Pope; son, Lindy Day and wife Ellen; grandchildren, Jessica Bullard, Holland Caraway, Rebekah Pope, Trey and JayDon Day; 7 great-grandchildren and 7 nieces and nephews. Honoring Chuck as pallbearers will be Jimmy White, Robert Wilkerson, Jerry Ogden, Jackie Rose, Charlie LaBorde and Donnie LaBorde. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Baptist Children's Home in Monroe, LA.
