Chuck was born June 9, 1957 to Charles Lenford Herron, Sr. and Jimmie Lee Carroll Herron in Shreveport, Louisiana and passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2024 in Bossier City, Louisiana. Chuck grew up with a love for his hometown and its sports teams. After graduating from Woodlawn High School in 1975, he further pursued his passion by attending Louisiana Tech University where he majored in Journalism. It was during that time that Chuck developed his skills as a writer and honed his deep understanding of the world of sports.

Chuck’s professional journey began as a sportswriter, capturing the essence of the games and athletes he covered for over four decades. His insightful articles brought joy to readers and offered a unique perspective on the world of sports. However, Chuck’s impact extended far beyond his writing; he also dedicated himself to umpiring Little League games for 20 years. Through this role, Chuck became a mentor to countless athletes, teaching them the values of fair play and good sportsmanship. From 2000 to 2004, Chuck served as the PA announcer for the Southwood Lady Cowboys, lending his voice to cheer on these athletes during their games. Chuck’s passion for bringing people together through sports was truly remarkable.

In addition to his career accomplishments, Chuck excelled professionally at AFLAC where he achieved great success, and then later with AllState. His exceptional work ethic and dedication led to numerous awards and recognition within the company.

Described as a comedian, jokester, and a real family man, Chuck’s love for his family knew no bounds. He cherished his wife, Candy Herron of almost 47 years and their two daughters, Jennifer Herron and Courtney Kelsh. His dedication to being a loving father figure was felt not only by his own family but also by others who were fortunate enough to have known him. Chuck’s bright light shone in every interaction, making all who met him feel cared for and important. He set the standard for fatherhood through his unwavering support, guidance, and unconditional love.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Mike Herron; nephew, Travis Holland; cousin, Otis Carroll; father-in-law, David Holland and his wife, Darlene. He is survived by his wife, Candy Herron; daughters, Jennifer Herron and her significant other, Joe Davis and Courtney Kelsh and her husband, Zac; grandson, Levi Kelsh; sister, Charlotte Weidner and husband, Garland; nieces, Christan Griffin and husband, Derek, Carrie Roszell and husband, Sean and Stephanie Weippert and husband, Thomas; nephews, Brad Weidner, Brian Herron and wife, Rhonda, Jacob, and Josh; great-nephews, Parker Powell and Noah Brady; cousins, Patricia Townsdin and husband, Jeff and brother-in-law,  Scott Holland and his wife, Melissa.
