Christopher Dale Purvis, 50, of Taylor, Louisiana, passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Oak Grove Louisiana on January 17, 1975, Chris was a beloved husband, father, son, uncle, and friend, whose kind spirit touched the lives of all who knew him.
A memorial service to celebrate Chris’s life will be held on Monday, May 19, 2025, at First Baptist Church Minden beginning at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 18, 2025, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church Minden. Interment will follow at Woodard-Walker Cemetery in Ada Taylor, Louisiana.
Chris never met a stranger and loved meeting new people. To know him was to love him. He loved to visit with anyone he met. Chris loved the Lord with all his heart and shared that love throughout his cancer battle. Chris found peace and joy in the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, always happiest with a rod in hand or under the wide, open skies, a passion he shared with his son Carson. His love for nature was matched only by his passion for photography, through which he captured the beauty of the world around him and the special moments that now live on in his images. Some of his most cherished days were spent playing guitar with his daughter Gracie.
Chris was preceded in death by his father, Dale Purvis; his grandparents, Ray and Dorothelen Purvis, William Schmitz, Doris Schmitz, and Claude Pullman; and his in-laws, Steve and Diann Gosdin.
He is survived by his loving wife, Phoebe; children, Gracie and Carson Purvis, parents, Johhny and Linda Pullman, brothers, Tim Purvis and wife Casey and Shane Purvis and wife Tish, sister Jodee Lazarus and husband Anthony, nieces, Linsey, Kaleigh and Addilyn Purvis, Aubree Lazarus, and Peyton Haydel and husband Philip, nephews, Josh and Jake Purvis, and Logan Gosdin and wife Bree, great niece Charlotte Haydel, brothers-in-law, Ryan Gosdin and wife Dawn and Pat Gosdin, grandmothers Jane Pullman and Marie Basham, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Though his time with us was far too short, the impact of Chris’s life will continue to be felt through the memories he created, the lives he touched, and the love he shared.
