Chester C. Burns, Jr.

Funeral services for Chester C. Burns, Jr., 71, will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Pelican Cemetery in Pelican, Louisiana. A visitation will be held Thursday, January 6, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Officiating the service will be Rev. Leland Crawford and Rev. McKee Williams. Chester was born on September 18, 1950 to Chester Coleman Burns, Sr. and Ruby Iler Richey Burns and passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2021 of cancer and pulmonary fibrosis in Shreveport, Louisiana. Chester was a resident of Bossier City and retired from General Motors as a painter in the automotive industry. He cared deeply about his family and grandchildren; they brought him much joy. He loved classic muscle cars and working his land while taking care of his horses and cattle. Chester is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Paul Burns; and his brother-in-law, Marion Cannon. Left to cherish his memory is his son, "Trey" Chester C. Burns, III and wife, Rachel; daughter, Kristi Burns Morgan and husband, Casey; and stepson, Neal Chandler and wife, Natalie; grandchildren, Ashleigh, Shelby, Chloe, Jacob, Madison, Tiffany, Hayley, Lucas, and Sadie; brother, Craig Burns and wife, Dee; sister, Cecelia Cannon; and sister-in-law, Linda Burns. Honoring Chester as pallbearers will be brother, Craig Burns, sons, Trey Burns and Neal Chandler, son-in-law, Casey Morgan, cousins, Hayward Burns, Tommy Burns, Robert Burns, Arthur Touchton and Henry Touchton. The family would like to express special thanks to Snola Jackson, Craig Burns, Cecelia Cannon and the staff at Christus Highland Hospital for all their wonderful care and compassion given to Chester. The family suggests memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
