Charolette Zern Mainiero

Charolette LaVerne Zern Mainiero passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 1, 2026, in Shreveport, Louisiana at the age of 80. She was born in Shreveport on February 3, 1946, to Albert and Lula Mae Zern.

Charolette married Robert Mainiero of Hazelton, Pennsylvania on February 4, 1967. The couple resided in Shreveport where they raised their family. Being a homemaker and being available to her family at all times gave Charolette the greatest joy. She enjoyed crafts and operated Charolette’s Ceramics out of her garage for many years. Once her children were older, she put her business school education to work in a 20-year career as Office Manager of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. She relaxed by cross-stitching in the evenings or cheering at her grandchildren’s activities. She rarely missed a dance recital, soccer game or play.

A 10-year survivor of pancreatic cancer, Charolette proved just how much fight can be found in a little Southern lady. More peace than illness, more joy than pain, more bounty than loss, more laughter than tears, more faith than doubt – these things marked Charolette’s life and sustained her family.

Charolette is preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Robert Joseph “Bob” Mainiero; her parents, Albert Harold Jacob Zern and Lula Mae Ebarb Zern; and her two sisters, Maxine Elizabeth Zern Morris and Elaine “Bobbie” Zern Morris.

Left to cherish her memory are her three sons, Victor (Melissa) Mainiero, Dominic (Lori) Mainiero and John (Kasie) Mainiero; eight grandchildren, Jacob (Cassidy), Zachary, Aaron (Annie), Victoria, Lillian, Bella, Ava and Miles; two great-grandchildren, Landry and Rachel; her brother, Harold (Pam) Zern; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Charolette will be remembered at a visitation on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Southside followed by a recitation of the Rosary at 5:00 p.m. She will be honored with a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, October 5, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. She will be interred with her husband at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery at a later date.

Honoring Charolette as pallbearers are her sons, Victor, Dominic and John and her grandsons, Jacob, Aaron and Miles. May the angels in Heaven carry her to her Eternal Rest.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Holy Angels Residential Facility in Shreveport, or to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Shreveport.
