A funeral service celebrating the life of Charles Earl Shoalmire, Sr, 88, will be held at 3:00pm, Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Fellowship Baptist Church, with Bro. Phillip Collier officiating. Interment at Oak Grove Cemetery in Converse, LA. The family will receive friends from 1-3pm, Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Fellowship Baptist Church.
Charles was born on October 14, 1937, in Converse, LA to Gandy Sr. and Jessie (Sherwood) Shoalmire and passed away June 4, 2026, in Mansfield, LA.
Charles retired from Beaird Industries after 37 years, working his way up beginning as a welder and finishing as a bay supervisor. But what was closest to his heart was his house and property in Converse, LA. He loved to grow gardens and was always happy to share what he grew. He planted trees all over the property, knowing he would never see them grow to full height, but knew his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren would.
Charles was also proud of his military service, where he was an MP.
Charles was a deacon at Fellowship Baptist Church where he served the Lord faithfully.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Andrea (Hutchings) Shoalmire. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Gandy Shoalmire Jr, Raymond Orville Shoalmire, and Clarence R. Shoalmire. His sisters that preceded him in death are Betty Shoalmire Brook and Louise Shoalmire Elliot.
Left to cherish and honor his memory are his sister Joyce Lynn Copeland, his son, Jeffrey Shoalmire, wife Christy, Charles Shoalmire, wife Courtney, and his daughter, Jennifer Shoalmire Nitz, husband Jay. He loved his grandchildren, and the loss will also be felt by his grandchildren, Brandon Shoalmire, Sydney Riley, Samantha Jett, Mason Shoalmire, August Nabors, Ryan Riggs, Jayson, Jesse, and Joah Nitz, and 7 great grandchildren.
Honoring Charles as pallbearers will be Larry Patrick, Tommy Raimond, Bobby Patrick, Adam Burkett, Daniel Litton, William Martin, Jesse Nitz and Joah Nitz.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are Brandon Shoalmire, Hunter Riley, Brady Jett, Mason Shoalmire, and Jayson Nitz.
