Charles "Chesty" McCathran

Charles Bruce "Chesty" McCathran, age 84 of Vivian, LA passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at his home. Chesty was born June 28, 1937 in Mooringsport, LA to James Orin McCathran and Helen Long McCathran. He grew up in Mooringsport with is brothers, Larry and Ronnie. After high school, Charles worked in the oilfield before entering the construction trade as a pipefitter and welder. Daddy enjoyed spending time with family and nothing made him happier than a good meal, cold beer and a house full of kids. Chesty is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Wanda Idom McCathran, his parents and his brother, Ronnie. Those left to cherish his memory are his brother, Larry; 3 children, Erin, Brian and Bruce; 5 grandchildren, Mime, Chase, Lindsey, Paige and Payton; 8 great grandchildren, Tanton, Racyn, Slade, Stetson, Cole, Kecyn, Parker and Kindlin. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to Chesty's favorite charity: St Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. The family will have a visitation on Sunday, February 6, 2022 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 705 S. Spruce Street, Vivian, LA from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
