Charles M. Land (Skipper) died at home in Minden, Louisiana, September 22, 2021.
Born June 15, 1954, Skip was the first-born son to Barbara Porterfield Land and Charles M. Land. He was brought up in a happy household with his brothers, Lenny and Bodie. Growing up Skip enjoyed a loving home that taught the importance of family and hard work. They enjoyed horseback riding and family vacations. Some of Skip's fondest memories were from Minden High School where he played football for the Crimson Tide. He continued to follow and support the MHS football program. Skip and Lenny started working in the oil fields with his grandfather while still in high school. He served his country in the United States Air Force. In recent years Skip returned to Minden and enjoyed meeting with all of friends at local cafes to reminisce and "solve world problems" over coffee and talk LSU Football.
Left to remember his legacy are his three sons: Mark Land (Whitney), Chris, and Eric Land all of Tyler, TX; his brother, Lenny St. Germain (Nancy) of Sibley, LA; grandchildren, Stella, Bodie, and June Land. Nephews and niece, Amber Phennisee, Treason Land, Jason (Courtnie) and Michael St. Germain, Clay and Ryan (Sarah) Patterson, great nephews and niece, Caden Phinnisee, Brooks and Olivia St. Germain, Brenden, Colin, Ethan, Evan, Owen, and Abram Patterson; as well as aunts and cousins.
Skip was preceded in death by his parents, Charles M. (Bo) Land, Barbara Porterfield Land, and Bodie Land.
Services will be held Monday, September 27, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Minden, Louisiana with Bro. Ronnie Whitlock officiating. Interment will follow at Gilgal Cemetery East of Minden, Louisiana. Visitation will begin at 9:30 prior the service.
