Charles was born January 15, 1944, in Shreveport, Louisiana, and passed away Thursday, August 5, 2021. He graduated from Fair Park High School, where he played football and ran track. After earning his undergraduate degree and master's +30 from Northwestern State University, Charles served in multiple positions for the Caddo Parish School Board. He went on to work in Human Resources for Tri-State Oil Tool Industries, Heatcraft Copper Products, and Cellxion Inc. He was a member of the Bossier Chamber of Commerce and The Coordinating and Development Corporation. Charles was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Anthony Maranto and Irene Crawford Maranto and his brothers, Dr. Frank Maranto and James \"Jimmy\" Maranto.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Merritt Maranto; children, Charles \"Charlie\" Maranto, Jr. and wife, Marilyn, Melanie Canatella and husband, Ted, Monty Montgomery and wife, Lashan and Mary Patten and husband, Jason; his grandchildren, Mackenzie Snook and wife, Lindy, Sonny Canatella, Caroline Canatella, Kathryn Patten and Victoria Patten; his siblings, Joseph \"Bo\" Maranto, Marie Maranto, Robert Maranto and wife, Vicky, Donnie Maranto and wife, Cindy and John Maranto and wife, Christy; his sisters-in-law, Carolyn Maranto and Lydia Maranto; numerous nieces and nephews and his most beloved fur babies, Sadie and Baby.
Honoring Charles as pallbearers will be Monty Montgomery, Julian Whittington, Justin Whittington, Daniel Maranto, Johnny Maranto and Jason Patten. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Harold LaBorde, Jr., John Twohig, Gerry Mullins and Bill Bain.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 315 Marshall St., Shreveport, LA 71101.
