Ida, LA - Charles Edmond Hollier, Jr of Ida, Louisiana passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at Aime Hospice Care of Shreveport, Louisiana. Charles was known to many of his friends as Charlie and to family he was affectionately known as Tinker. He served his country as a member of the United State Air Force and after completing active service, transferred to the National Guard. He spent his entire life working, retiring only shortly before his death. But his work opportunities took him across the globe living in places most would only dream of, Belize, Puerto Rico, Spain, Italy and Moscow, where he met his wife, Martha. Tinker had a quick wit and loved to joke - he always tried to keep life light and up-beat. He was one of the most kind-hearted people one could meet. He was very patient and loving, always looking for the best in everyone. He was an avid reader and a person of great intellect and was often a valuable source of wise counsel to his family who always knew they could count on Tinker for everything. He was truly a blessing to their lives and life will never be the same for his family without him.
Tinker was preceded in death by his father and mother, Charles Edmond Hollier, Sr. and Helen Elizabeth Lewis Hollier, whom he adored. He is survived by his loving wife, Martha Kostiuk Hollier, his brother Richard Lewis Hollier of Mooringsport, LA and his sister Jane Hollier Sosa and husband Manuel Sosa of Ida. In addition, Tinker leaves behind his step-son Dimitri Popov, his nieces (whom adored their Uncle Tinker), Ashlen Sosa Brent and husband Clint, and Abigail Sosa Leonard and husband Brent as well as his nephew, Conner Sealy Hollier. His great-nephew Hollier Aubry Brent, great-niece Emberlen Elizabeth Brent and soon to be Beck Robert Leonard will all share in the legacy left behind by their precious Uncle Tinker. Also left to cherish his memory is his only aunt, Jane Lewis, his first cousins Ann Parsons, Kay Robertson, Susie Chenowith, and Doug Lewis and his South Louisiana relatives, especially cousins Rita Martin and Jo Ann Lewis.
Thank you Lord, for blessing our lives with our Charlie, our Tinker. We will forever hold our precious memories of him deep in our hearts.
A visitation for Tinker will be held Thursday, October 11, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Ida Baptist Church, 18787 Virginia Ave., Ida, LA.
