A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Charles “Bo” Thomas Blackwood, age 83, at Cornerstone Church (formerly 1st UMC), Homer LA, on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 2:00 pm.

Bo was born at home October 23, 1940, in Hope AR, to Jesse B. and Margaret Elizabeth Ross Blackwood. He went to join his Savior on June 8, 2024, in Homer LA, with his family by his side.

Bo started his work life at Safeway in Hope AR as a teenager, where he worked for nearly 20 years. He later owned and ran Blackwood’s Grocery in Homer LA. Bo was in the Arkansas National Guard and was a Master Mason. He was also a life-long fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks. Bo never met strangers, only new friends; was always ready to trade whatever; was the unofficial church greeter on Sunday mornings; was the best and most favorite Poppa to his grandchildren; was an absolutely wonderful Dad to his children; and was a very dear and loving husband to his wife.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Margaret Blackwood; and all his siblings, Wallace Blackwood, Roy Blackwood, Joy Blackwood Haas, Jim Blackwood, Frances Juanita Blackwood Faulkner, Betty Jo Blackwood May and Donald Blackwood.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Sherryl Lynne Davis Blackwood; daughter, Tonya Blackwood Roberts and husband, Andy, of Lisbon LA; son, Scott Blackwood and wife, Melissa, of Hellertown PA; grandchildren, Delaney Roberts of Lisbon LA, Aidan Roberts of Lisbon LA, and Trevor Blackwood of Hellertown PA; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, his family suggests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org/louisiana
