Charles Alvin "Pete" Perry

Bossier City, Louisiana - Charles Alvin \"Pete\" Perry, 93, passed away Monday, March 1, 2021, in Bossier City, Louisiana. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, March 5, 2021 at Hephzibah Cemetery, in Emerson, Arkansas. Officiating will be Dr. Johnny Pope (nephew) and Pastor Cole Melton of Heritage Baptist Church. Pete was born February 8, 1928, in Haynesville, Louisiana to Robert L. Perry and Estelle Prestidge Perry. In 1950 he married the love of his life, Glenna Mary Edwards, while serving in the United States Army. The couple settled in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1952. Pete attended Centenary College where he received accounting training before starting his working career with Swift Meat Packing Company, where he retired in 1988 after 44 years of service. The Perry\'s joined Central Missionary Baptist Church in 1952 where Pete served until his death. He was a dedicated, faithful servant holding the offices of deacon, treasurer and Sunday school teacher, always ready to serve the church in any capacity. Pete had no greater joy in life than serving his God. He was a servant first and that led to many years as one of the leaders of the church. Pete had two overwhelming loves in his life, his family, and his Lord. The Perry\'s celebrated 70 years of marriage in December 2020. Some of Pete\'s hobbies were fishing, golf, gardening, and woodworking, though he was the happiest while working the garden in his overalls at his parent\'s country home in Emerson, Arkansas. He was an able carpenter and spent many glad days working on the church\'s new buildings over the years. Pete is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Francille Pryor and husband Winston, Lucille Foster, and husband Joe Ray; son in law, William \"Bill\" Rinaudo; nephew, Timothy Lee Foster. Left to cherish his memory are his wife; daughters, Vicki Thompson and husband, Ray, and Connie Rinaudo; granddaughter, Amy Rinaudo-Dixon and husband, Tyler; as well as many nieces and nephews. Honoring Pete as pallbearers will be nephews, Phil Foster, Steve Foster, James Robert Pryor, Lewis Pryor, Doug Sanders, and grandson-in-law, Tyler Dixon.
