Celia Ann Toloso Benefield, DeRidder, LA - Ann passed away on April 3, 2020 from the effects of
COVID-19. A gathering of family and friends will be held on April 9, 2022, at the clubhouse of the
Bay Hills subdivision in Benton, Louisiana from 1-3 pm. The clubhouse is located on Shoal Creek
Cir., between Palmetto Rd. and Bay Hills Dr. Afterward, a gravesite visitation will be held at Rose-
Neath Cemetery.
Ann was born March 8, 1950 in Belleville, Illinois to Melvin and Barbara Toloso. She is preceded in
death by husband, Donnie Benefield and a son, Karl Wayne Burniston. She is survived by sons
Denny Burniston and John Burniston and wife Karen, step-daughter Deanne Roberts and husband
Jason, five grandchildren and one great-grandson. She is also survived by siblings Mike (Wylie)
Toloso, Mary Stack, Jamie Toloso, Mark Toloso, Melinda Rich, and their families. She took such
delight in her large family, including her beloved grandchildren, nieces, nephews and grands.
Ann retired from the Bossier City Police Department after serving as a jailer for most of her career.
She had the opportunity to live in several states and countries, having both her father and first
husband in the Air Force. Ann enjoyed her retirement years with extensive traveling. Her favorite
places were Puerto Rico and San Francisco.
Faith, family and friends were the center of Ann\'s joyful life. She charmed everyone she met with
her beaming smile, irrepressible laugh and adventurous spirit. She was curious, encouraging and
positive to everyone she met and approached every person and situation with love and an open
heart. She was a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day and is sorely missed by all who knew and love
her.
