Cecil Snider

Give Me Jesus - The song of the life of Cecil Snider "In the morning when I rise, give me Jesus. When I am alone, give me Jesus. When I come to die, give me Jesus. You can have all this world, but give me Jesus." Most who knew Cecil had the privilege of hearing him sing this song and many others throughout his life. Cecil's life sang its first notes in eternity on December 18, 2020. In the tender care and wisdom of God, following a brief illness, Cecil opened his eyes to see the One who had given him a song for so many years. Seventy-three years ago, the journey of his life began on December 31, 1946. That path soon crossed the path of Sissy, his beloved wife of 53 years. Because of his love and commitment to Jesus, expressed in a life well-lived, Cecil was used by God to bring Sissy into a relationship with his Savior. Together they spent the moments of their years pointing others to Christ. Following in the footsteps of his father, Naughf Snider, Cecil was the owner of Snider Painting until his retirement in recent years. For many years, Cecil had allowed God to fill his heart with a passion for the Mexican Indian Training Center in Cordoba, Mexico. He served on the stateside board for MITC for several years and as president of the board for the last few years. Cecil\'s greatest passion, outside of his devotion and love for Jesus and his family, was ministering to the people at MITC. "The mission of MITC in Mexico is to spread the Gospel of Jesus. Over the last two decades Cecil Snider has enhanced that mission adding a special dimension to our ministry showing the Love of Jesus Christ in a powerful way. Students, faculty and our family always saw Cecil's desire to make Christ known in a special way, taking every opportunity to be a blessing. Through the years he led numerous teams to the mission and he was an example of selfless Serving, Caring, and Working. Bibles, Paint, Ice Cream, and Candy, were some of the ordinary means he used to express the extraordinary love of Jesus in his generous heart for the people of Mexico both young and old. We will always be grateful for Cecil's service to Christ at MITC. We hope to imitate his example. To God be the Glory." (Dan Hall, Director of MITC) Cecil's faithful service to God and love for those in Mexico and in his own community are seeds that will continue to bear fruit throughout eternity. The final notes of his life's song on earth ring out with one word....JESUS! Cecil is preceded in death by his parents, Naughf Carroll Snider and Imogene Mae Britt Snider and his sister, Betty Sue McAndrew. Those who remain to cherish precious memories are his wife of 53 years, Sissy Snider, son, David Snider and wife, Amanda, daughter, Stephanie Ryan and husband, Scott, four grandchildren: Caleb Ryan, Mallory Ryan, Emma Snider and Maggie Snider...all of Shreveport, brother, Grady Snider, and wife, Linda of Alexandria, LA, brother Jack Snider, and wife, Patsy of Sarasota, FL; sister, Leila Dixon, and husband, Charles of Marshall, TX; and special niece and nephews that he claimed as his own: Danny DeHondt and wife, Jodi, Chris DeHondt and Shannon Flowers and husband, Paul, and their children.
