Funeral services for Cathy Lynn Gill will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Dr., Bossier City, Louisiana. A visitation will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City. Officiating the service will be Reverend Andrew Brewster. Cathy will be laid to rest in Oneonta, Alabama at a later date.
Cathy Lynn Gill, a beloved member of her community, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 4, 2024, at the age of 67. Born on January 7, 1957, Cathy grew up in Gonzales, Louisiana, where she graduated from East Ascension High School in 1975. She pursued higher education at Louisiana State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Business in 1980.
For more than 20 years, Cathy worked as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Her commitment to excellence in her field was evident through her work and the relationships she built with clients and colleagues alike. She was not only skilled but also deeply respected by those who had the pleasure of working with her.
Cathy was also actively engaged in her local community as a member of the Rotary Club. Her leadership qualities shone through during her tenure as Chapter President from 2000 to 2001. In recognition of her contributions, she was honored with the Paul Harris Fellow Recognition Award, reflecting her commitment to service and her significant contributions to The Rotary Foundation.
Outside her professional and community accomplishments, Cathy enjoyed a variety of hobbies that brought her joy and fulfillment. As a child, Cathy enjoyed arrowhead hunting in Tuscumbia, Alabama. Later in life, she was passionate about cross-stitching, finding creativity and relaxation in each stitch. Cathy also loved to listen to audiobooks, often immersing herself in different worlds through stories.
Cathy Lynn Gill leaves behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and service that will be cherished by all who knew her. She will be remembered for her warm spirit, her unwavering commitment to her profession, and her love for her community.
Cathy was preceded in death by her father, Garland P. Woodard. Cathy is survived by her loving husband, Joe Gill; son, Bo Gill; daughter, Janet Gill Jordan; mother, Bobbie Elaine Neese; sister, Susan Lindh, and her two fur babies, Bella and Reba.
Serving Cathy as honorary pallbearers will be Bo Gill, Dan Gill, John C. Sims, Kirt Soileau, Dudley Mire, and Jack Jordan.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to the Willis Knighton Cancer Center, 2600 Kings Hwy., Shreveport, Louisiana 71103.
