Catherine Haynes Kennedy

A “Celebration of Life” Service for Catherine Haynes Kennedy, 81, will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. A visitation will be held Saturday, July 1, 2023 from 12:00 p.m. until service time. Officiating the service will be Dr. H. Murry Hodge.

Catherine was born on February 26, 1942 in Pleasant Hill, Missouri to William Edward Haynes, Sr. and Grace Irene Holeyfield Haynes and passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at home in Greenwood, Louisiana.

Catherine was a resident of Greenwood and retired from Western Electric. She then went to work for Brenner’s Baby World. She was a homemaker and had a lifelong Friday weekly hair appointment with Kim Mills. She loved her church, Jesus, gardening, and her family dearly. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother. She was married for 67 wonderful years to the love of her life, Kenneth Keith Kennedy. She will be terribly missed by her family, but we will forever love and cherish her memory.

Catherine is preceded in death by her parents, William Haynes, Sr.  and Grace Haynes; son, Kenneth Keith Kennedy, Jr.; brothers, William Edward Haynes, Jr. and Richard Lee Haynes; and grandson, Daniel Curtis Bedgood. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Kenneth Keith Kennedy; children, Kirby Kennedy and wife, Patty of Forney, Texas, Lynette Bedgood of Greenwood, Louisiana, Richard Kennedy and wife, Janice of Bossier City, Louisiana; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild with the second one due in August of 2023.

The family would like to express special thanks to Amedisys Hospice of Shreveport, Louisiana, aide, Marsha Robinson, nurses, Donna Williams and Courtney Mooney and Chaplain Jim Gstohl for the outstanding care, compassion, support, and love given to our mother.
