Dad was a devoted Christian who loved God, family, and country. He served in the U.S. Army from April 10, 1953, to March 25, 1955, with honor and pride. Dad felt his calling was to maintain the church grounds and he was very faithful to that calling. If for some reason he could not mow and someone else did, he would always go by to inspect the grounds. Usually, it was just as he thought, the lines in the grass were not straight and they did not even do the trimming.
After Dad retired as a truck driver, he took up hobbies that he loved which included riding horses, fishing, and of course, coon hunting. However, his biggest passion was his family, immediate and extended. He would tease his Grands until they were screaming with a tinge of fear and a whole lot of joy and Mother would be begging "MEDFORD PLEASE!".
Dad's personal walk with God was an everyday consistent journey. He had his eyes on one goal, Heaven. Genesis 12:5 says, "and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan, they came." Dad began his journey to heaven as a young man and on January 5, 2021, he entered into his Canaan and reached his goal.
