Carolyn Alberta Dowden

SHREVEPORT, LA- Funeral Service celebrating the life of Carolyn Alberta Dowden, 76, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall Street, Shreveport, LA. Officiating will be Bro. Buddy Hankins of Southside Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery, Shreveport, LA. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, June 18, 2018, at the funeral home.

Carolyn was born August 22, 1941, in Honesdale, PA to Caroline Allen Kenny and Robert Kenny and passed away at her home on June 15, 2018, in Shreveport, LA. She attended Southside Baptist Church in Shreveport and Aimwell Baptist Church of Zwolle, LA.

 She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Almon Grant Dowden, Jr., her daughter Robyn Lynn Dowden, and her grandson Steven Ray Harris. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Kenneth Barker; three daughters, Kathryn and husband Tommy Turner, Roxanne and husband Danny Brown, Ozie and husband Joseph Miller; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Adeline Smith; and her furr babies, Roxie and Pickles.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to her neighbors, JoJo and Lucky Leeds, and to Brenda, Anita, and staff at Southern Care Hospice.

Honoring Carolyn as pallbearers will be Rodney Dowden, Robert Smith, Tommy Turner, Nick Dale, JoJo Leeds, Scotty Estes and Bobby Statham.

She was a tough cookie!
