A funeral service to celebrate the life of Lyndal Carolyn Matthews Baughman, 83, will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Dr., Bossier City, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park in Haughton, Louisiana. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier. Officiating the service will be Pastor Harrell Shelton.
Carolyn was born on September 22, 1943, to Louis Decater and Ruth Idell Matthews in Shreveport, Louisiana. Surrounded by her loving family, Carolyn was called home by her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 30, 2026. She was a long-time resident of Bossier City.
She was a retired insurance agent for American General/Life and Casualty of Tennessee.
She was, in the eyes of her two children, the greatest mother in the world. Her legacy lives on through her daughter, Suzanne Ruff (Steve) of Blanchard, LA, and her son, Steven Baughman (Cynthia) of Wylie, TX. Her memory will also be lovingly cherished by her three grandchildren, Glenn, Alison, and Michelle, and by the love of her life for 65 beautiful years, her husband, Farris Baughman.
She is further survived by her brother, Charles Matthews of Bossier City, LA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis Decater and Ruth Idell Matthews, and sister, Louise Williamson.
Honoring Carolyn as pallbearers will be Glenn Baughman, Don Coleman, Maike Baughman, Carl Cochran, Jimmy Starks, and Freddie Widmer, Jr. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Jim Martin, Skip Smith, Steve Ruff, and Randy Matthews.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Ted Warren and Dr. Boniol at Christus Cancer Center.
