Carolyn Thompson Allgood of Summerfield, Louisiana was born on October 7, 1940. She went to her eternal home on May 7, 2026.
In the 85 and a-half years of Carolyn’s life, she fell in love, married, became a Mother, a Grandmother, and a Great-Grandmother. She lived a life full of unrelenting love for her family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Deforrest Allgood. She is survived by her son Patrick Allgood, his wife, Tara; her son Gregory Allgood and his wife Carolyn. She is survived by her grandson, Zachary and his wife Kristin, her grandson Cameron and his wife Abbie, her grandson Carson and his wife Bethany, her granddaughter, Kaylin, and step-grandsons Grant Jonhkeer and his wife Caitlin, and Garrett. She is survived by her great grandchildren, Adelaide, Oakley, Canon, and Sonder.
Carolyn wanted to especially recognize the love and support of her “extended family” to include but not limited to Bonita and Ms. Ruby Ford, Lannie Wafer, Jr., Barbara and Kenneth Kemp, and Martha Ann Kennedy.
In her nearly 50 years as a teacher, the number of Claiborne Parish students she taught likely approaches or exceeds 10,000, and she remembered every one of them. The impact left upon these students through her devotion is insurmountable. She also found time to serve as church pianist for many years.
In the latter months of her life she invested her energy into the residents and care staff around her at Town & Country Health and Rehabilitation in Minden, where she was highly regarded and will be deeply missed. She loved deeply and her wreathes grace many of the doors at that facility.
Pallbearers were Zachary Allgood, Cameron Allgood, Carson Allgood, Crant Jonkneer, Larry Ford, and Dawson Foust.
Donations can be made to Summerfield School in her honor to be used toward a scholarship fund to be established in her name.
