Carol Rich
Meshelle
August 20, 1943 – April 6, 2026
Carol Rich Meshelle, 82, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2026. Born in Marshall, Texas, on August 20, 1943. Carol moved to Bossier City, Louisiana, in 2020 to be closer to some of her children and grandchildren.
If you knew Carol, you knew orange. It was her color, her signature, and something everyone who knew her came to expect. It suited her; bright, joyful, and impossible not to notice.
Carol never met a stranger. She was warm and kind, always smiling, and known for the joy she carried. Her positivity and trust in the Lord left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her and was an encouragement to so many.
Carol loved writing and was a wonderful poet, writing under the fitting name of The Orange Lady. Above all, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Meshelle; father, Garland Rich; her mother, Daisy Campbell; and her brother, Bill Rich.
She is survived by her children, Connie Dowden (Steve Woodley) of Marshall, Texas, David Meshelle (Robin) of Memphis, Tennessee, Chris Chapman (Brett) of Fort Worth, Texas, Robin Hill (Randy) of Bossier City, Louisiana, Rich Meshelle (Dawn) of Bossier City, Louisiana, Douglas Meshelle of Bossier City, Louisiana, and Ronnie Collier of Bossier City, Louisiana; her brothers, Buddy Garland Rich (Norma) of Jefferson, Texas, and Clifford Rich (Teresa) of Waskom, Texas; her grandchildren, Brock Dowden (Tamara), Lacy Marshall (Andrew), Taylor Chapman, Natalie Lannom (Kirby), Colton Hill (Ashlie), Hannah Howard (DJ), Heather Grace Cunningham (Mark), Lauren Dunson, Micah Meshelle, and Aaron Meshelle; and her great-grandchildren, Harper Faulkner, Shana Rae Marshall, Jude Marshall, Avery Hill, Knox Hill, Gage Chapman, Waylon Lannom, Chapman Lannom, August Howard, Frankie Howard, and Madalyn Dowden.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at The Acts Church of Shreveport, 6953 Greenwood Road, Shreveport, Louisiana. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Officiating the service will be Anthony Daniels. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Centennial Cemetery in Panola, TX.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of the Willis Knighton CCU for their care and compassion.
