Carol Lynn McDonald Scott

Surrounded by family, Carol Lynn McDonald Scott peacefully departed this life to her heavenly home on July 30th, 2025, at the age of seventy-two. She was a devoted and beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Carol was born the second daughter of XL and Ruby Louise McDonald on September 16th, 1952, in Shreveport, Louisiana. She graduated from Bossier High School in 1970 and was a lifelong resident of Bossier Parish. Upon high school graduation, Carol attended Bossier Parish Community College going on to earn her bachelor's degree in education from Baptist Christian College and then her master’s degree in school counseling from Louisiana Tech University.

Carol, a committed educator, beloved school counselor, and faithful servant of Christ dedicated her life to guiding, nurturing, and uplifting others through education and faith. Over the course of her thirty-year career at Elm Grove Middle School, Carol impacted the lives of countless students, always reminding them to “be kind to one another.” Her classroom was more than a place of learning, it was a refuge of encouragement, kindness, and inspiration. As a counselor, she offered compassion, wisdom, and a listening ear to students, families, and colleagues alike.

Rooted in her strong Christian faith, Carol was a lifelong member of Barksdale Community Church, loyally serving her congregation and community. Her quiet strength and unwavering trust in God were evident in every part of her life. She will be lovingly remembered for her warm smile, gentle spirit, and steadfast commitment to helping others grow- academically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Above all else, Carol was devoted to her family. She was married to the love of her life, Duxie William Scott, Sr. for forty-seven years. They had one son, Duxie William Scott, Jr., wife Michelle, and one daughter, Kristi Scott Loyd, husband Stirling; and grandchildren, Madelyn, Macy, and Marshall Scott (Children of Dawn Bush) and Dade and Emma Loyd; and two step grandchildren, Emily and Ty Causey. Also left to cherish her memory is her sister Brenda Jones and husband Ronald, as well as numerous other family and friends.
