Carlenda Kay Phillips

A memorial service for Carlenda Kay Phillips, 68, will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Dr., Bossier City, Louisiana. A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. Officiating the service will be Reverend Carolyn Mosley. A musical selection by Harmonicist James Livingston will be played at the service.

Kay was born on December 27, 1955 to Carl McClelland and Betty Jo Rainey McClelland in Fayetteville, Arkansas and went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 15, 2024, peacefully in her home while bravely battling cancer. She was lovingly surrounded by her children and granddaughters at the time of her transition.

As a toddler, the family moved to Bossier City, Louisiana, where Kay grew up with her siblings, camping, water skiing, deer hunting, and spending time with family. Kay remained in Bossier for the remainder of her life, attended Airline High School, worked at Shore Furniture, and then Max’s Pawn Shop for many years. She was a loyal employee and loved all of her customers and coworkers.

Kay’s father was an Arkansas Razorbacks fan through and through. Kay lived to carry on the love for Razorbacks and the Wooo Pig Sooie chant. She loved going to football games with her children, even if it meant rooting against them, watching football games at home, and placing wagers on her football squares.

She recently found her love for traveling and spent time with friends and family taking memorable trips that she loved to reminisce about. She gave her life to Christ and was baptized in 2023. Her true passion was spending time with friends and family. She loved cooking Sunday dinners and having a house full of love and laughter. She loved seeing people smile, and always tried to help when someone was in need. Christmas was her favorite time of the year; she would go above and beyond to fill the hearts of her loved ones with the Christmas spirit.

Kay is survived by her children, Shawna Everage, Samantha Magness, and Brandon Phillips; grandchildren, Rozney Carlino, Juan Fox, Josie Stinson, Jocelyn Fox and Ashia Phillips; great-grandchildren, Zara Carlino and Amina Carlino; son-in-law, Shane Everage; daughter-in-law, Johnette Hansen; brother, Rickey McClelland; sister, Joan Barfield; extended family members, Jeremy Williams, Matt Ebarb, Sid Picou, Brandon Liming, Wanda and Donnie Ruff, Margie Tarver, Crystal Heard, Eddie Brown and the Toys Family.

The family would like to express their loving thanks to Bristol Hospice.
