Carlee Elizabeth McCain Burch passed away in Shreveport, LA, on January 19, 2026. She was born on July 16, 1966, to loving parents Charles Simonton McCain, Jr. and Billie Jean Roberts McCain. She is survived by her only child, Sara Elizabeth Burch, whom she shared with her former spouse, Paul Michael Burch; her three half-siblings Charles S. McCain III (Simon), Claudia V. McCain, H. Davis McCain (Hank), and wife Lynn; aunt Bettye Roberts McConathy; cousin Kelle Strate and husband Tom and their daughters Katherine and Claire, and their children; and cousin Patrick McConathy and wife Tricia and their sons Chad, Will, and Andrew, and their children. She is preceded in death by both parents, Charles and Billie Jean McCain; her aunt, Grace Heidt; and her uncle, Hershal McConathy.
Carlee attended primary and secondary school at First Baptist Church of Shreveport, graduating in 1984. She then enrolled at Baylor University where she was a proud member of the Kappa Delta sorority, and she graduated from Baylor in 1989 with a degree in Communications. Following college, Carlee worked in marketing for the medical industry, and she transitioned into a caring and loving mother and homemaker when her daughter was young. She treasured spending her summers on Lake Michigan with her family, carrying the cherished yearly tradition throughout nearly every chapter of her life.
As a lifelong Christian, Carlee was raised by her mother and father with an unwavering faith that instilled her devotion to God from a young age. She deeply adored our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Carlee was an adoring, devoted daughter who passionately cared for her father, Mr. McCain, in his final years of life.
Carlee is remembered by those who knew her as a loving, loyal, and witty daughter, mother, sister, niece, cousin, and friend. A natural comedian, Carlee possessed a unique, offbeat sense of humor -- a trait she inherited from her McCain family, particularly her father. She would find whimsy in every situation, injecting hilarity into even the most unexpected situations.
Carlee retained a lighthearted approach to life. Her laughter and energetic nature would unmistakably light up every room, and she was ever the life of the party. She loved singing and dancing to music, and in particular loved to sing along to any song that she heard. Carlee is also remembered as a lover of fashion with a renowned collection of shoes.
Carlee was a fierce lover of all animals, especially the beloved dogs and cats she owned through every stage of her life. More than anything, Carlee adored the Lord, her family, her friends, and her pets. No matter where she was, Carlee always maintained a keen and gifted ability to turn strangers into friends through her welcoming and outgoing spirit. Her larger-than-life presence will forever be kept alive in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to have known her.
A memorial service, with reception to follow, will take place on Friday, February 6, 2026 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church’s Frost Chapel, located at 543 Ockley Drive, Shreveport, LA 71105.
