Carl "Pop" Young

Bethany, LA - Carl Young age 81, passed away on July 13, 2020 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Mr. Young was born to Albert Preston and Ruby Bridges Young on July 19, 1938 in Webster County, Mississippi. He worked at Libby Glass in Shreveport, LA, until retirement. He was an active member of Waskom Baptist Church, where he sang in the church Barber Shop Quartet and built set ups for children's programs. Mr. Young was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jim Young; and sister Geraldine Turman. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marqie Young; sons, Gary Young and Davin Todd Young; grandsons, Christopher Young, Zachary Young; granddaughters, Shelby Young and Courtney Young; great grandsons, Gage Young, Bubba Breed; great granddaughters, Leila Young, Ava Young; brother, Paul Young and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2020 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel, 2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport, LA. Funeral services will be conducted at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, July 17, 2020 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel. Reverend Marvin Cooper and Reverend Leland Crawford will be officiating the service. Graveside services will follow at Northwest Louisiana Veteran's Cemetery, 7970 Mike Clark Road Keithville, LA. Serving as pallbearers for Mr. Young will be Tom Jowers, Bruce Burback, Matt Miller, Jody Gary, Chris Donaho and Charlie Adams. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Bob Smith, Johnny Burson, Billy Joe Burson, Walker Lee Burson and Paul Young. The family would like to acknowledgement to the entire staff of Heritage Manor West, especially Cookie Washington, and Willis Knighton Rehabilitation Facility on Line Ave. Also, to Willis Knighton North 4th floor west for the love and care they showed Pop. "Pop" was an awesome husband, dad and "Poppa". He will be tremendously missed.
