A Memorial Service for Carl “Pete” Copes, 79, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall St., Shreveport, Louisiana. A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until time of service. Officiating the service will be Steve Riall.
Pete was born on April 13, 1946 in Oak Grove, Louisiana to James Garland Copes and Bertha Mae Scoggin Copes.
Pete enjoyed being on the lake and fishing and traveling with his wife and friends. He also enjoyed being a member of the Blanchard Poke Salad Festival Committee. He loved taking photographs, and was always known to be the person behind the camera lens. Above all, he loved his family. To know him was to love him and he will be truly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Cynthia Woodard of Vivian, LA; brother, Donald Clifton and loving daughter, Catherine Stanfield both of Blanchard, LA. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 63 years, Shirley Ruth Cooper Copes; sons, Ronnie Copes and Rick Copes and wife, Joanna Copes; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and sister, Norma Copes of Rockford, IL.
The family suggests memorials may be made to the Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency (LOPA), https://give.lopa.org/checkout/7130 or your local Lions Club.
