STONEWALL, LA - Funeral services for Capt. Durwood E. Lindsey, 81, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel. Interment will immediately follow at Forest Park West Cemetery. Rev. Mark Sparks will be officiating. Visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home. Durwood was born June 19, 1935 in Martin, LA to Hervey Lindsey and Maggie Rayford Lindsey and passed away from a lengthy illness on November 5, 2016. He proudly served his country in the US Navy, and served his community for 20 years before retiring as a Firefighter. He also did mill work and carpentry on the side. Durwood was a 32nd Mason and past Master and current member of the Landmark Lodge #214 in Keithville, LA. He was an avid coon hunter and member and past president of the BBCHA. Durwood was a devoted member of Faith Baptist Church and loved serving the Lord. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Durwood was preceded in death by his parents, Hervey and Maggie Lindsey, first wife of 47 years and mother of his children, Mary Johnson Lindsey, son, Russell Lindsey, siblings, Harrell, Beth, and Joseph, and great-grandson, Todd Beam. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 13 years, Jane LeMay Lindsey; son, Randy Lindsey and wife, Gail; daughters, Donna Beam and Kim Harmon and husband, Bill; daughter-in-law, Windy Lindsey; 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Hervey Lindsey; sister-in-law, Elsie Lindsey, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Honoring Durwood as pallbearers will be Joshua Holland, Daniel Harmon, David Harmon, Christopher Lindsey, John Lindsey, and Noah Harmon. Honorary pallbearers will be Ethan Harmon and Matthew Payton. The family would like to say a special thanks to Curly and Sandra for all the care, love and support you gave to our father.
