Graveside services celebrating the life of Byron Russell Rozelle, age 83 will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Rose-Neath Cemetery in Bossier City, LA with Chaplain Dana Casey officiating.
Mr. Rozelle was born on January 28, 1937 in Talladega, AL to his parents Walter N. Rozelle, Sr. and Marie Wiggins Rozelle and passed away on February 25, 2020 at his residence in Bossier City, LA. He was a high school graduate of Sylacauga High School in Sylacauga, AL and received a Bachelor of Science at Auburn University. Mr. Rozelle was a lifetime Auburn Alumni Association member and a member of the Blue Key and Omioron Delta Kappa. Mr. Rozelle was very passionate about college football especially the Auburn Tigers. He would attend games with his good friend Jesse and his son. He served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years. Mr. Rozelle worked for Upjohn Pharmaceutical Company for 20 years as a pharmaceutical salesman. After retirement he did a few sales jobs just to have something to do until a good, good friend, Hardy Hall called and ask him to work at his company, Safety Outfitters. He started selling safety work clothing and shoes for construction workers and fire fighters for around 15 years until last year when he got sick and could not work any longer. Mr. Rozelle was a very loyal friend to many especially to his two best friends, Hardy Hall and Jesse Allen. When his wife died, he was a loving husband who went to her grave faithfully every day for 20 years. He was a hardworking man, kind, loving, loyal, and dependable, dedicated and always put family first. He was very, very close with his daughter, Marie and granddaughter, Haley.
Mr. Rozelle is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Juanice Rozelle and his brother, Walter N. Rozelle, Jr. Those left to cherish his memories are is daughter, Marie Rozelle; granddaughter, Haley Cox; twin sister, Virginia Crawford; brother-in-law, John Crawford. He is also survived by his niece, Amy Crawford and nephews, Neil and Tom Rozelle.
