Brooklynn Blair Dunn departed this world on December 8, 2018. Throughout her nine precious years on Earth, Brooklynn spread the type of love, sweetness, and joy that changed the lives of everyone who met and loved her. And there are many. While the memory of her smile, laughter, and kindness continues to inspire and comfort us, the unicorn shaped hole left in our hearts will never be filled, not even an inch.
Brooklynn was born on June 2, 2009 at Willis-Knighton Pierremont in Shreveport. In passing, she was preceded by her grandmother Lynn Hennessy of Bossier City and is survived by her mother Christie Dunn, father Adam Dunn and her sister and best friend Gabrielle Dunn. Brooklynn will be eternally missed by her grandparents Pat "Pops" and Holli Hennessy of Shreveport; Bill "Poppy" and Susan Fields of Benton; Ivy "Grammy" and Buzz Perez of Austin, TX; Danny and Melissa Dunn of Alabama; great-grandparents, Chris Stoll and Allan Stoll. Brooklynn will forever be mourned by her Aunt "Sis" Lisa Trombetta and Uncle Scott Trombetta of Shreveport; Uncle John Carter Hennessy and Aunt Christina Hennessy of Bossier City. Her cousins Hunter, Jacob and Elly Trombetta; and cousins Ronnie Lynn and Jack Hennessy will never forget their very special Brookie. Penning a full list of beloved family and friends grieving Brooklynn's loss would be impossible.
Earlier this year Brooklynn was bitten by the acting bug, telling her family that she planned to attend a top acting college before moving to Hollywood and becoming a famous actress in her very own movie. Brooklynn was actively involved in local theater with Stage Center School of Performing Arts, starring in Peter Pan Jr., Aladdin Jr., A Christmas Carol and she recently landed a role in the upcoming performance of School of Rock. For those of us who cherished seeing her on the stage, the lights of Broadway and the Sunset Strip will now shine a little less bright.
Brooklynn loved all critters, especially puppies and kittens, holding special places in her heart for Miss Fancy Pants, Tiger, Foxxy, and Wrigley. She also loved unicorns, adopting the stuffed variety in every shape and size she could find. Brooklynn was the founding President of the very prestigious and exclusive Unicorn Club. Aside from Brooklynn, only one other human was ever invited to join, and it was the greatest honor of his life.
Brooklynn adored her fellow Girl Scouts with Troop 259, her special pals at AcroSports, and her very best girlfriend Adisyn Devillier. Telling jokes, sharing riddles and making videos on Musical.ly were among her favorite ways to pass a day. Among all her accomplishments and all the things Brooklynn learned in life, two stand out. Teaching her mom Christie how to love and knowing how deeply her mother loved her in return.
A funeral service for Brooklynn will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Saint Mark's Cathedral in Shreveport. She will be laid to rest following a ceremony at Rose-Neath Cemetery on Swan Lake Spur in Bossier City.
In lieu of flowers, the Brooklynn Dunn Memorial Fund has been established at Citizens National Bank, benefiting Eden Gardens Magnet Elementary and the Stage Center School of Performing Arts.
