Brett Jacob Guillory known by many as “Coach”, passed away Friday, January 16, 2026 in Longview, Texas. His loving parents were by his side. For the last decade, he was a resident of Houston, Texas where he was a teacher at Wisdom High School. Brett fought a heroic battle with cancer while still remaining loyal to his profession as an educator. So passionate and dedicated that in the last months when he was not able to drive, he would have his parents drive him to school so he could still teach his students. One can only hope that his legacy of perseverance and learning will be carried forward in the many lives he touched as a teacher and coach.

Brett worked for Houston ISD at Wisdom High School where he was the welding and woodshop instructor. He was a dedicated baseball coach with Premier and Marucci Baseball. Brett often quoted words that inspired him: "The proper function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time." He truly lived by these words as he traveled with his loyal companions Era and Velo.
Brett is preceded in death by his beloved lab, “RBI”; his maternal grandparents, Edward Cheek Sr.; June Becker Cheek; his uncle, Edward Cheek Jr.; and his paternal grand- parents, Lester and Hazel Guillory.
